The reasons the United States don't have these machines
Tragically, the integrated washer dryer does not seem to have made its move into the United States quite the way it has become almost pervasive in the UK and around Europe. Many people stumble upon the site and are excited by the various products that they see, but often leave disappointed when they see how few options are available in the United States. Here's why they are still rare there.
First, space is not as crucial in the United States. Many parts of Europe place an emphasis on smaller living spaces which makes every inch of the apartment count. In the United States, you see many large houses and so, having two large machines isn't as costly an issue. As a result, people don't seem as interested in gaining this advantage from these devices.
Second, the cost of an integrated washer dryer is still fairly high. These integrated washing machines can run a pretty high price tag, even when you factor in that you are buying both a washer and a dryer. As a result, the sheer convenience of these machines isn't often enough to convince people to bite the bullet and get both machines in one purchase. This issue is exacerbated further when you factor in that people rarely are looking to buy both a washer and a dryer. Usually people are looking to replace one unit that is broken and so, they don't need to go to the great expense of purchasing both like you would in an integrated machine.
Finally, awareness is a huge issue. Many people in the United States don't even know that integrated washing machines even exist and so, they don't go looking for them. If you don't know that you can buy something, it's unlikely that you will try to do it.
